What’s in a Name?
Posted on April 16, 2008
An open letter to all my fans, friends, supporters, & comrades.
Ya know, it’s funny how much little things – trivial things – mean. Take names for instance, a few letters, a syllable or three, a totally meaningless abstract symbol – and yet it can contain a persons entire identity, history, sense of self even. It’s huge. I’ve been thinking about names a lot lately, not least because I’ve noticed that there are an awful lot of folks running around calling themselves Lynx. I can’t blame ‘em, after all Lynx’s are pretty damn cool, but it does present a bit of a problem for me since as an independent musician all I really have is my name and whatever name recognition I’ve earned in the last decade or so since I started making music and in the last seven years since I released my first album. Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It.
Posted on January 6, 2008
I’ve just gotta take a second here and throw out some massive respect to ICE CUBE, for dropping some real shit to start off the year and putting it all in perspective for motherfuckers that want to complain about how violent Rap music is. fuck ya’ll. get the government to stop torturing and murdering people all over the planet and then maybe we can talk about violence in music.

Jay Z on Violence, Racism, and Censorship
Posted on December 10, 2007
Jay Z just did a new interview where he focusses on racism in the media and poverty in black communities. Jigga is an interesting character to me in that on the one hand he’s a poster boy for the bling crowd, but at the same time he seems far more willing to speak on serious issues like this then just about anyone else in the mainstream, this isn’t the first time he’s spoken on these issues and it probably won’t be the last. To me that speaks to a certain level of integrity in that – even though he’s obviously in a very different place from someone like me ideologically – he’s got enough respect for himself and the community he comes from that he’s not going to let the spotlight silence him when he wants to speak out on something.
