A Crazy Month
hey folks,
Ya’ll may have noticed that I haven’t been writing much here for a quick minute now. I’ve had a crazy (good crazy) month working on my new house and getting things fixed up. On the 10th of this month Laura and I bought a 2 bedroom house up in vallejo. The place is cool but was kind of fucked up because the previous owner ran a dog training school out of the backyard and so the carpets were all trashed and the yard was full of makeshift kennels that had to be demolished and ripped out. Once we get it all cleaned and fixed up though the place is going to be awesome, we’ve even got a giant room in the back to set up a full home recording studio and throw house parties. So that’s been eating all my time and will probably eat most of my free time for a while to come.
In the meantime I’ve been posting a lot on twitter, it’s a lot easier to do 2 sentences every couple days then to try to keep up a blog where I’m writing full on essays. So if you want to stay up to date hit up my twitter feed from the right bar.
As far as music news, Beltaine’s Fire has 10 new songs written for our next album. Right now we’re trying to decide between ‘Crime and Punishment’ and ‘ Anarchitechture’ as potential titles. We did a recording session down at Expressions on the 19th and that was cool, apparently most bands can only ever get 3 songs finished in a session but we managed to get 9 recorded which I think says something positive about how prepared we were going in. Not everything we got is golden but it’s all at least good and I’m psyched to at least have our new stuff down on tape. We can always re-record stuff that has room for improvement on our next session. We’re gonna take our time on the next album, I’ve had a bad habit in the past opf setting deadlines to motivate myself and then cutting corners in order to meet them and ended up with recordings that didn’t sound as good as they should have. So this time we’re not doing that shit, the album will be released when it’s done and sounds as good as we can possibly get it with the tech and budget we’ve got.
Speaking of budget, if you like the music and want to hear more of it put your money where your ears are and lend some financial support. We’ve got downloads of my last 3 solo projects and both the band’s albums available from the store over at BeltainesFire.com and you can even name your own price for most of the downloads. Yeah I know, anarchists begging for money are just pathetic but fuck that shit. I’ve got to eat too and making music costs money. One of these days I might be able to quit my dayjob and do this shit full time but that’s a long way away for now.
Guess that’s about it for now, I should stop writing and get back to work. this house isn’t gonna fix itself…
have a good weekend ya’ll,
lynx
