On Palin’s Gender Card & The Real McCain
just saw this and thought it was amusing.
Personally? I’m having trouble taking Palin seriously, not because she’s a woman, but because McCain choosing her is such obvious and overt pandering to all the female Clinton voters who are supposedly so horribly upset that their candidate didn’t get on the ticket. That and the fact that her stands on women’s issues like reproductive freedom are positively medieval. Fact is, Sarah Palin is to the Feminist movement what Amos & Andy are to the Civil rights movement. She’s an obstacle to be overcome at best. She’s not interested in standing up for working-class women’s rights anymore then Colin Powel or Condoleeza Rice (or Obama, for that matter) are interested in standing up for the rights of poor and working class black folks. At the end of the day she’s just another braindead puppet of the patriarchal chistrian right, nothing more or less.
Oh, and speaking of abortion-clinic bombing doctor-assassinating war-mongering christian-supremecist right-wing nutjobs (ie: the hard-core christian right); doesn’t anyone else think it’s odd that a political party that goes on an on about wanting “small” government thinks it’s perfectly acceptable for the government to regulate what goes on inside a woman’s womb? Seriously. WTF?!
And let’s not even talk about “experience” – the thing that was supposed to be McCain’s big trump card.
bleh.
oh, and – speaking of McCain – here’s a couple fun videos courtesy of youtube.
have I mentioned that I hate politicians? yeah. this is (part of) why. More on that theme later, i promise.
