The brand new album from Beltaine's Fire

big pimpin’

it’s not often any more, but occasionally I run across something that reminds me of how much i love hip hop, despite all the bastards selling snake oil and exploitation in it’s name. this video right here gave me one of those moments.

the artist is J. Medeiros from the Procussions. He’s signed to Rawkus, and – you’ll love this – when his label sent this video to MTV it was rejected for being “too controversial”. So wait a second here, MTV sees nothing at all controversial about glorifying the shit out of a million fake pimps who glorify exploiting women but when someone finally makes a video about what being a Pimp actually means THEN they get all sensitive and say the subject is controversial? Typical. And the label, of course, isn’t even interested in standing up for the artist. fortunately we’ve got a way around ‘em now and you can get the video live and direct on your web browser.
