just a little bit further
i’ve got less then 2 weeks till i (finally) graduate with my BA in political science, oh joy.
i think it’s funny that even though it’s called Political Science it’s impossible to get a bachelors of science in it, because of course it’s not at all scientific. if i had it to do over again i’d go into one of the hard sciences, though come to think of it it’s probably a good thing i didn’t. being an anarchist and a chemist (for instance) is just begging to get arrested, no matter what you’re actually doing the pigs’d prolly just assume it’s bomb-making. ha! in any case its way too late to turn back now.
still trying to decide about grad school, i’d never even considered it until one of my profs pointed out that stopping at a BA in poli sci is basically asking to be unemployed. guess i might as well send out some applications and see what happens… give it another few years and i might have to change my moniker to ‘proffesa lynx’. could be fun, who knows?
what i’d really like to do is make enough off my music to get by on that without having to work a straight job. but then, who doesn’t want that? half the kids in america dream of being rock stars or whatever when they grow up. at this point i believe its still possible to make the kind of breakthrough i need to take this music thing to the next level, just not sure if it’s probable. I’m gonna finish the Beltaine’s Fire album this summer for sure, get that out as wide as i can, and then stop and take a serious look at where i am and where i need to be. definately not gonna stop making music, just might have to change the way i do it and admit to myself that its a hobby and something i do for love and not something i can seriously hope to do full time.
then again, it’s entirely possible that ‘the weapon of the future’ will blow up and land me / us some serious distribution at last. we’re getting very positive feedback on the demo and even have a booking agent for the first time ever. either way the next year is gonna be critical, i can’t wait to see how it all pans out.
